Wings! Wings! Wings! Who doesn’t love some good ole crispy, delicious wings? These recipes are pretty simple but they’re most definitely in the top 3 wing recipes I absolutely love! I like the fact that the sweet and sticky ones are oven-baked and I love the spiciness combined with the sweetness of the sauce that coats them (I used a little more chili powder than the recipe called for because I’m heat queen – the hotter, the better). When I made these, I also made honey BBQ wings (recipe also included) for my PIC – so he had his wings and I had mine. It’s a beautiful thing not having to share. Yes, you read right. Recipe Modified From Simply Reem
Ingredients:
1lb chicken wings
1 cup flour
For the marinade:
2 or 3 garlic cloves, finely minced
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp sesame oil
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
For the glaze:
1/4 cup strawberry jam
1/4 cup raspberry jam
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp Siracha sauce (or pepper sauce)
2 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 to 1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp red chilli flakes
Method:
1. Wash chicken with vinegar and lime and thoroughly dry chicken with paper towel, pork it with fork lightly.
2. Add all the ingredients (except the ones for sauce), mix well and marinate for 2 hours or overnight.
3. Once ready to bake preheat the oven to 400° F.
4. In a large clean plastic bag put the flour; add the wings to the bag one by one shaking of the excess marinate.
5. Shake the bag well so that the chicken pieces get well coated.
6. Put the chicken wings on the baking tray lined with oiled foil.
7. Bake for 25 minutes on one side. After 25 minutes or so turn the chicken wings and bake them on the other side for another 25 minutes. (this is halfway through)
8. While the chicken is baking, in a sauce pan add all the ingredients needed for sauce and bring it to a boil. Let it cook for another 5-6 minutes, keep stirring constantly. Remove from the heat and keep it aside.
9. Once the chicken is done, add the sauce to the wings along with chopped green onions, mix well to coat the chicken wings properly. Serve hot.
And on to the Honey BBQ wings
Recipe From My Kitchen Snippets
Ingredients:
1lb chicken wings
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1/2 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp paprika
1 cup flour
Sauce:
1 cup of barbecue sauce of your choice (I used Sweet Baby Ray’s)
2 tbsp Sriracha chili sauce or any kind of chili sauce (optional)
3 tbsp honey
Method:
1. Marinate the wings with salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika for an hour or up to overnight.
2. Heat oil to about 350 degree F in a deep fryer, or you can use a deep heavy skillet with enough oil to fry the wings.
3. Lightly coat it with the flour. Fry the wings in batches until they’re golden brown and crispy. I love my trusty old skillet/pan
4. In a small saucepan, heat up the BBQ sauce, chili sauce and honey.
5. Once the wings is done toss it with some BBQ sauce.
6. Serve at room temperature.

Oh, these look amazing!
Thank you Anastasia!
Hi Tia, These look delicious. Love the idea of the strawberry and rasberry jam as a glaze. Can’t wait for the warmer weather to come so that I can try these out.
Regards Florence.
Thank you Florence. I hope once you try them, you enjoy them. They’re very flavorful and finger-licking good!
Tia, I love both of these recipes and especially the crispy crunch of the fried wings. I don’t have a favorite wing recipe, but I know I want to try one of these. I think my husband would’ve loved to have had a plate of these while watching the Duke basketball game last night!
Thank you!
Funny you mentioned the game (albeit another game than what I’m gonna talk about) – We ate these during SuperBowl. Well actually I ate mine (Sweet and Sticky) – my husband was too upset with the Patriots to touch them. He ate them the next day. Mines were fantastic!
A portion of each for me please…and yes, no sharing! We get some pretty decent sized wings off our home reared cockerels…none left at the moment, but when the freezer is full again I´ll be making these :)
You know I’m so jealous of you and Cecilia. I told me hubby a few months ago, when we buy a house I am going to raise chickens. He’s not too thrilled with the idea but my grandmother raised chickens back in the Caribbean when I was growing up and it was so nice to get fresh eggs. Then sometimes, I’d watch her chop off the chicken’s heads (tears)…I’m straying here …but like I said, I want to grow chickens too!!!
These wings are jam-packed with flavor. You must try!
Killing them is not fun, but when they´ve had a good life and scratch around outside – well, it´s got to be better than the lives those poor supermarket chickens have had!
Those wings look delish! I would definitely be adding the “optional” sriracha sauce.
Thank you Tessa. They certainly were.
I am all about the strawberry & raspberry jams in the glaze. ALL about it!
On another note, my sweetheart totally has chickens in a carefully crafted chicken coop at his grammas house lol. Fresh eggs!
Jealous once again! *sighs*
These look very yummy!
Thank you Donna
Yum! The glaze looks so good! Served with a beer to cool the heat, my hubby will love these!
Yum, yum, yum! I do love a good chicken wing and both of these recipes look truly amazing! I especially love the idea of those sticky wings with the sweet and spicy thing going on…one of my fave combos as I’ve posted. Great post!
I think, this is always the best part of chicken. Love them like this :D
This is a real finger licking good chicken!
I love chicken wings, especially crispy, sweet and sticky.. my kind of chickens for sure :)
OK, this look completely out of this world!!! I would totally lick my fingers after that ;)
Thank you Marjorie!
Now, although I don’t eat poultry (well, meat of any kind), I’ll cook it. And of course, the Caribbean Mother “Reds” will cook anything. These look de-vine. Definitely would be a hit, especially with the men of La Familia ’cause they’re sticky, and therefore, “finger licking”.
How about fish? Do you eat fish?
Thanks for the compliment. They really were fantastic.
Love all types of seafood — not just the more common fishes. I haven’t tried everything from the sea or those that live in water, but I’m adventurous.
2 delicious and very tempting recipes! Guess I will have to try a portion of each – just for testing purposes of course.
Thanks again for stopping by my little spot in the blogosphere. You have a fantastic blog.
:-) Mandy
These look awesome. Love your site! Glad you found my breakfast bake. Hope you enjoy it! :)
Hey, this is great! Love chicken wings! Especially the super spicy ones. Thanks for visiting my blog too.
Looks great but how many minutes do you usually keep it frying for (the bbq chicken wings)
