Hiya Guys! I know I’ve been super delinquent but I promise there’s a really good reason for that. Wanna know why I’ve been missing in action for so long? Well, I’ll tell you…I was in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for 5 long weeks. It was my first visit home in what seems to be forever and man did I enjoy myself. In fact, I’m planning to return in a few months. I just cannot wait. If you’re interested in reading more about the lovely and gorgeous St. Vincent & The Grenadines, you can do so right HERE
So I won’t bore you with loads of words about my trip but just know I ate, slept, partied, drank and enjoyed the heck out of life for 5 weeks. I spent Christmas and New Year’s Day there so it basically the perfect way to end 2012 and begin 2013. My friends, my country is soooo beautiful and I’m not just saying that. Judge for yourself. Oh and feel free to click on the pics for a larger and clearer view of all this beauty.
Look at that water!
This is a view of part of the capital, Kingstown….
Woke up to this view of the sun rising one morning and just felt like the luckiest woman alive.
Not only do we have gold sand and white sand beaches but we also have black sand beaches because of the volcano present on the main island.
One morning, a guy just stopped by after meeting me the day before & brought a bag of mangoes. Man was I glad!
This is what we call a sugar apple. It’s all bumpy and not very pretty on the outside but on the inside it’s pulpy, seedy and sweeeeeet!
Now on to the food & drinks! I ate out almost every day. Man was it good stuff.
Jerk Chicken…
Fish boileen (like a broth but with ground provisions sometimes present)
BBQ chicken lunch…
Stewed Saltfish & Breadfruit…
And the drinks. I can’t tell you what half of them are now because I was drinking thorough my entire trip and my memory is shot :(
Our local beer – Hairoun (pronounced High-Ruin)…

On my last full day in the island, I managed to capture the sun setting. I actually teared up at the beauty knowing that I had to leave the next day. Soon I’ll be back there again. I’m just counting down now.
I’m not promising that I’ll be posting recipes soon because I’m still in vacation mode but just know that I’m still around and I appreciate all my readers and eFriends. You guys are awesome. Thanks for the understanding and your continued readership!
Bye For Now…..

Long time. Looks as good as always
Do you know how to make Callaloo? ANy recipes to share?
I have never myself made callalloo soup but my godmother makes a great one. I’ll get the recipe from her and share it with you.
Have always wanted to go here. It’s so far away and so expensive, that I think I’ll have to wait until I can spend a good chunk of time here. So happy for you that you got to go home!
One day you’ll manage to find yourself there. One of the best things about St Vincent is how remote it is and not as developed & Americanized as many other Caribbean islands. You’ll experience the Caribbean the true “Caribbean” way.
Thanks for the comment!
Overloaded by great times and awesome eats – welcome back :)
Cheers
Choc Chip Uru
Thank you!
Such awesomeness Tia! welcome back!
Thank you!
Gorgeous photos, girl!! You’ve been missed, but this is a completely acceptable excuse. I’ll have Jerk Chicken and a pile of cocktails please!
Thanks Heather. I’ll be Fed Exing you some of the chicken and drinks ASAP. I have to come over to your site and spend a day catching up on your goodies.
Welcome back Tia! I love your photos! So beautiful!
Thank you Tessa.
Gorgeous photos, and the one with all the drinks lined up totally made me smile! Glad you are home for a bit!
Thank you :)
You lucky lady – sounds and looks like an amazing trip. Am intrigued to know why you are lucky enough to be heading back there again so son… :)
Well Tanya, my mother, sisters, brothers & closest friends all live in St Vincent so seeing that I had such an awesome time there, I just want to repeat it all and spend more time with them. I’m so homesick as I type. There is where my heart truly is.
I understand, I really do and am so happy that you’ll be getting the chance to spend more previous time with them…
Oh Tia – what a gorgeous place! I am so glad for you that you got to spend five weeks there, and consume such delicious food and classy drinks. Congratulations on enjoying the heck out of life – after all, what else is it for?
Thank you so much Carol Anne! I really did have a spectacular time.
Welcome back! Looks like a great trip. Certainly the pictures are fun! What a great experience you had – thanks for sharing with us.
Such a beautiful country! I would love to visit someday. Islands are my favorite places in the world. Love the sand, the sea, the sun. Food looks marvelous too!
