About Tia

So this is me…

simple |ˈsimpəl|adjective: easily understood; presenting no difficulty : uncomplicated in form, nature, or design; without much decoration or ornamentation.

….That, ladies & gentlemen, pretty much describes ME!

Blogging about food has been something that I’ve wanted to do for a while but it seems like something always interfered with me “getting the show on the road”. I didn’t have the time. BUT I’ve put down my foot and finally did it! And  yes, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m somewhat very late on the blogging bandwagon but like the old people in the West Indies often said where and while I was growing up “Better late than never”. *sees that “Really Now?” look on one reader’s face* Finnneeeeeee, I know people all over the world say that but I just wanted to find a way to put it out there that I’m from the Caribbean. WoooHooo. I was born and raised on the most beautiful Caribbean island (can you guess which one?) and then I migrated to the USA to pursue my studies.

I decided to start blogging mainly because I wanted to share my love stories about food with anyone who would listen read. I love everything about food and it’s seriously surprising that I’m not a trillion pounds. Although, I’m on a diet every other day. But I digress….

Food is my passion. I love to cook, I love to bake, I love to assemble and most of all I love to EAT. I’d say I love to entertain but I haven’t done much of that…..ever. The list of reasons for that, too, is another long one so I’ll just spare you the heartache.

Being that one of the hindrances to my entertaining is that I just moved from New York to a secret location somewhere near Mars and I know not one soul here, I definitely can’t bring the world to my home (food), so I’ve opted for bringing my home (food) to the world. You’ll be sure to find tons of restaurant reviews and posts about my own culinary conquests, achievements and even failures on http://www.IamSimplyTia.com.

Please understand that my site is a work in progress and may not be in the circles of the fancy-schmancy food blogs out there (which is where I aspire to get one day). I do not have an all-that-great camera and I have not, as yet, mastered the art of food photography (lighting, angles, food styling etc)…so bear with the images I present. Hopefully my words will be enough to captivate you! *grins*

Note Well: Most of the dishes you see here are recipes I’ve acquired from around the web (mostly, other bloggers). If I use someone’s recipe, I WILL credit them and include a link to the original recipe. Sometimes though, I concoct my own creations. With these concoctions, I may have gotten inspiration from other places but not often do I list out the 12 recipes I reviewed to come up with my own recipe that I like and want to share. Also my blog isn’t about just one type of cuisine. All of what I share is what we eat for either breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert – so you won’t just find Caribbean dishes here. It’s an eclectic mix of all types of food.

So with all that being said, I sincerely want to thank you for taking the time to visit my little corner and I really hope you come by again……soon! And if/when you leave me a comment and I don’t respond, please forgive me, it’s not that I’m ignoring you. It’s just that sometimes your lovely comments leave me speechless!

Bye For Now…..

I do hope that you visit the Caribbean soon again. I never truly appreciated my gem of an island until I travelled to different parts of the world. It’s indeed a idyllic region. Thanks again!

  7. Hey iamsimplytia,

Salivating, simply salivating! – said from a girl who likes good cuisine, and definitely enjoys “appreciating” (food taster anyone?) those who simply enjoy the art of bringing good food to the palette, all this of course with a good cup of tea – thetosinteatime.com

    • Hi Stefanie! I’m from St Vincent and the Grenadines. Whenever you have free time on your hands you can google it and learn more about it. I’m looking forward to reading about your adventures on your blog! Thank you for stopping by.

  8. Welcome to the food blogging world. It’s a wonderful place to be. We all started with the point and shoots and worked our way through many trial and error photos. So…you can do it too!! You’re on your way!

    • Thank you very much for that warm welcome. So far, I’m loving it. I’m hoping to invest in a DSLR soon but it’s so confusing which one is a good pick. I’ve been hearing a lot about Nikon D3100 (for beginners) so I might go with that. Any words of advice on entry level cameras?

  9. Hi Tia,

I like your blog. I know it took courage, planning, and time to produce. Terrific. Please remember that U did not say from which island U came. I am from T & T, came to the US while in HS, I also love to cook, bake, create recipes, cake decorate, grow food and know a lot about the West Indian ways and mentality.

I know that I will continue enjoying your blog. Hang in there!

    (Are U from the D. R.?)
